Most internet lines that small operators buy - 4G and 5G SIMs, home broadband, many fibre packages - sit behind CGNAT and have no public IP address. That makes a MikroTik on them unreachable from outside, and the usual workarounds are worse: port forwarding a management port puts the router on the open internet, where it is scanned within minutes.

MTIK takes the other route. The router connects out to the platform over an encrypted tunnel, so it never needs an address of its own and nothing is opened on it. From then on, the site is in your dashboard wherever it is.

Works on any internet line

CGNAT, a mobile SIM, an ordinary consumer connection or a fixed line with a public address - the router is managed the same way on all of them. Moving a site to a different ISP does not change how it is reached.

The router is never exposed

Because the connection is made outwards from the router, there is no management port to forward and nothing listening for strangers. Remote access stops being the weakest part of the network.

Everything from the dashboard

Once a router is connected, the whole site is run remotely: the guided setup of ports, bridges, addressing and DHCP; the hotspot and PPPoE servers; vouchers, subscribers, the login page and live sessions. No site visit and no terminal.

  • MikroTik devices on RouterOS 6 and RouterOS 7
  • One dashboard for every router, wherever it is
  • Live status of each site, and of who is online on it

Hotspot + PPPoE Plan

Both services on one router — guests at the counter, subscribers upstairs.

  • Everything in the hotspot plan and everything in the PPPoE plan, on the same board
  • Guests on one network and subscribers on another, kept apart
  • One dashboard showing both, with each site scoped to what it sells
  • Vouchers and monthly lines recorded side by side in your own currency
  • One captive portal and one voucher design across the site
  • Sales, usage and expiry reported per site over any period you choose
  • Remote access without a public IP, and support over WhatsApp

Questions

Can I manage a MikroTik behind CGNAT?

Yes. The router connects out to the platform over an encrypted tunnel, so CGNAT, a mobile SIM or a home line makes no difference to managing it.

Do I need port forwarding or a static IP?

No. Nothing is forwarded and no static IP is needed. The router is never exposed to the internet to be managed.

Is this the same as MikroTik's own cloud features?

It is a different thing: MTIK manages the router as part of a business - setup, hotspot vouchers, PPPoE subscribers, the login page and reports - rather than only giving you a way to reach it.

What happens if the site's internet drops?

Nothing needs doing on site. The router reconnects to the dashboard by itself as soon as the line comes back.
